Rockies Start Road Trip with Big loss
June 26, 2017 - Pioneer League (PL)
Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release
Casey Golden homered in the first inning Sunday afternoon at Melaleuca Field, but that was one of the few bright spots for the Grand Junction Rockies in a 13-4 loss to the Idaho Falls Chukars.
Golden's home run followed Jeff Bohling's double, so the Rockies led 2-0, scoring first for the first time all season, but the first two Chukars in the bottom of the inning walked and scored to tie the game, and they took the lead in the second.
Tyler Straub homered to start the frame, and with one out Jake Wakamatsu singled. He scored on Offerman Collado 's triple, and a wild pitch plated him. Idaho Falls scored once in the third and four times in the fourth to make it 9-2. Robby Rinn doubled home Amalani Fukofuka in the sixth, and he was singled home by Dalton Griffin.
An error allowed the Rockies to score in the eighth, and after Logan Gray 's two run homer in the bottom of the inning, Jeff Moberg tripled and scored in the ninth.
The loss drops the Rockies to 1-6 on the season, they've lost five in a row.
Tyler Bates singled twice and walked.
Everyone in the Chukars lineup had at least one hit, Straub had three as they improve to 4-3 on the season, 4-1 against the Rockies.
