Round Rock Express News Release

The Midland RockHounds used power to beat the Round Rock Express last night. Wednesday night, the RockHounds used ten singles and a pair of big extra base hits to down the Express, 6-3, in front of 9,105 at The Dell Diamond. The first major blow came in the fourth. A pair of singles put two on, bringing Steve Jackson to the plate. Jackson hit a shot to right that rattled around enough for him to get a triple and two RBIs.

The second big hit again came from Jackson. With the score 5-3 and the Express trying to mount a comeback, Jackson essentially closed the door on the game with his fifth home run of the season to move the score to 6-3.

Chris Burke, Gavin Wright and Jon Topolski all had two hit nights in a losing cause.

Mike Ziegler (4-4) got the win and Ron Flores got his third save. Mike Burns (1-8) took the loss.

The four-game series will end Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

NOTES The Express partnered up with Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin to collect over a ton of canned food for the Capital Area Food Bank. Every fan that brought at least three cans was given a free ticket. The donations will help feed the needy in the Central Texas area.
