Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Edgar Gonzalez threw 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball Tuesday to lead Tucson to a 5-4 win over the Portland Beavers. Gonzalez, who improves to 3-2 on the season, struck out five and did not walk a batter in the contest while allowing only 5 hits. Jose Valverde earned his 4th save of the season by striking out the only batter he faced.

Centerfielder Luis Terrero flashed his skills with the bat and glove while going 2 for 3 with a triple. Terrero was also hit by a pitch, stole a base, scored 2 runs and drove in 1. Luis also tracked down a deep fly ball in the gap that looked like it was going to get down for a double. Rightfielder Brian Gordon and leftfielder Mark Little each had 2 hits in the game. Chris Donnels continued his hot hitting off of the bench by reaching on a pinch-hit single in the 7th.

Tucson will look to build upon a 15-13 home record on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. by sending lefty Chris Capuano (2-0, 3.63) to the mound to face Portland starter Ben Howard (3-4, 4.40).
