
Rockford Offense Heats Up

Rockford, IL-The Rockford offense has been heating up with the weather. The RiverHawks pounded out 16 hits as they defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 7-3. Four RiverHawks had three hits each and was led by the hot hitting Richard Austin who had a homerun and scored three runs. Jason Shelley (5-1) had another strong outing as he lasted seven innings and struck out five. 1B Trevor Hall had two doubles and Bobby Matthews collected two RBI's. Gateway pitcher Pete Buck (3-4) was tagged with the loss; he gave up six runs in just 5.2 innings. Horace Lawrence went 2-for-4 to lead the Grizzlies offense.
Rockford will end their home stand tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Josh Tomsu will take the mound for Rockford against Josh Lane of Gateway. There will be "Fireworks" after the game thanks to Advanced Business Machines and Q98.5. For ticket information please call 964-BALL.
Midwest Championship Wrestling will be at Marinelli Field on July 12. The action starts at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the RiverHawks at 964-BALL.
The Rockford RiverHawks are hosting a Los Lobos concert in the Marinelli Field parking lot on Sunday, July 27. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 1:00 p.m. People who have tickets to the concert will get into the game for free and concessions will be open. Tickets are on sale now.
