Rockets Win 5-3, 'Tips lead series 2-1

Kelowna, B.C. - The Kelowna Rockets scored four unanswered goals to comeback and defeat the Everett Silvertips 5-3 Tuesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, B.C. Scott MacDonald, Shane Harper and Byron Froese scored for Everett. Harper has six points (3G, 3A) in the first three games of the playoffs. Kent Simpson earned second star of the night honors stopping 33 of 37 shots. Geordie Wudrick and Mitchell Callahan scored two goals each for the Rockets. Everett went 1/4 on the power play while Kelowna was 2/2 on the man advantage. The Silvertips lead the WHL Western Conference Quarter-Finals best of seven series 2-1.

The Silvertips came out to a strong start begining with MacDonald's first career WHL playoff goal. MacDonald threw the puck at the net from the left hash marks and beat Kelowna goalie Adam Brown just 42 seconds into the game. Wudrick tied the game for the Rockets on the power play at 3:07 to make the score 1-1. Harper's third goal of the playoffs gave Everett a 2-1 lead. Harper stripped the puck from Dallas Jackson behind the Kelowna net and scored on a unsuspecting Brown on a wrap around at 11:28. Brown was pulled in favor of Mark Guggenberger after Everett's second goal. Froese increased Everett's lead to 3-1 after taking a Tyler Maxwell feed and snapping the puck past Guggenberger glove side on the power play.

Kelowna fought back to tie the score by the end of the second period. Wudrick collected his second power play goal of the evening at 3:33 to make the score 3-2 Everett. Callahan scored his first goal of the 2010 WHL playoffs at 10:14 to make the score 3-3.

The Rockets took their first lead of the game at 16:00 of the third period. Tyson Barrie found Brett Bulmer open at the top of the left circle before snapping the puck past Simpson for a 4-3 Kelowna lead. Callahan scored on an empty net at 19:40 to complete the scoring.

Everett takes on the Rockets tomorrow night for game four of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals at 7 pm. The Silvertips head back to Comcast Arena this Friday for game five at 7:35 pm.
