Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets get set to take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
Currently riding a three game win streak and entering their fourth game of a four game home-stand, Assistant Coach Travis Crickard says whatever the players are doing pregame is really helping them when the puck drops.
"There were a few guys last game that I was questioning what they did before the game, because they came out so fast. Whatever they did to prepare for the game whether it was a longer nap or a better meal, we need to keep doing that," Crickard said. "A lot of guys were skating hard and we were reaping the rewards because of it."
According to Crickard, a large key to the Rockets success against the Oil Kings was their work on the dot.
"Faceoffs are key. Last game against Edmonton our team was fantastic at taking draws," said Crickard. "When you win a faceoff that means you're starting with the puck rather than chasing it."
This is the first of three meetings this season between the Rockets and Hurricanes. They met twice last season, with each team taking a regulation victory.
Kelowna enters Friday night with a record of 11-6-2-1 giving them 25 points placing them second in the B.C. Division, four back of the division leading Victoria Royals.
Lethbridge enters the game with a record of 7-10-1-0 giving them 15 points placing them fourth in the Central Division, two back of the third place Kootenay Ice.
The Rockets hit the road following Friday night for a three game road trip starting on Saturday in Langley for a matchup with the Vancouver Giants. Puck drop is 7:00pm.
Kelowna then heads to Spokane on November 22nd for a Wednesday night meeting with the Chiefs with puck drop going at 7:05pm. The Rockets close out the three game road trip with a stop back in Langley for a rematch with the Giants on Friday, November 24th. Puck drop for the rematch is at 7:30pm.
The club then returns home on Saturday, November 25th for the first meeting with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the 2017-18 regular season. Puck drop is 7:05pm.
