Rockets Main Camp: Day Five
August 29, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets continued with main camp on Wednesday morning for day five.
With the main camp roster shrinking as camp progresses, the Rockets were split into two groups for morning practices.
One of the new faces on the ice in main camp is 2000-born right-handed defenceman Devin Steffler. Having played last season in Austria with the Okanagan HC Europe program, Steffler says that experience has made this transition easy to handle so far.
"It was a great experience living alone without any parents. Living the European lifestyle kind of prepared me to live with billets here in Kelowna. I'm just really excited now and can't wait to get things started," Steffler said. "Camp has been going really good. I feel like I'm keeping up with the pace, and the Okanagan program prepared me for this really well. It's been really good so far, I know Nolan Foote because I played with him in Denver, so that's made it easier also and overall it's going well!"
Another new face arrived to main camp on Wednesday as the Rockets 53rd overall choice in the 2018 CHL Import Draft Lassi Thomson flew into Kelowna and stopped by Prospera Place.
Steffler, Thomson, and the rest of Main Camp will be back on the ice on Thursday morning at 9:00am. Main Camp runs from August 24th - August 30th, with Rockets preseason beginning on August 31st as they host their divisional rivals, the Victoria Royals at Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05pm.
Tickets are on sale now at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
