Rockets Hope to Get Hot at Home

The Kelowna Rockets are hoping to expand on their five-game win streak at home when they host the B.C. Division-leading Vancouver Giants tomorrow at Prospera Place.

The Rockets last played on Saturday at the Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington. James Porter made 40 saves, but Kelowna suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Everett Silvertips. Defenceman Dalton Gally says the loss against the Tips was a good learning lesson for the team.

"We were in the defensive zone a lot of that game, but it was a good lesson learned," said Dalton Gally "Play a full 60 minutes, maintain the entire game and play our game."

Wednesday nights matchup will be the third time that the two clubs have faced off against each other this season. The Giants downed Kelowna 5-0 on October 3rd at home and handed the Rockets a 3-1 loss back on October 21st in Langley. Before heading to Kelowna the Vancouver Giants host the Saskatoon Blades at the Langley Events Centre. Gally says that there's one important key that the Rockets will need to be aware of heading into tomorrow's game.

"The most important thing is to play as a five-man unit. Sometimes we get too spread out or someone tries to do a little too much. If we simplify our game and focus on playing as one unit good things will happen," said Gally.

After Wednesday nights game the Rockets won't see the Giants again until the new year. The two will play a home and home starting on January 26th in Kelowna that will then head to Langley on January 27th. Vancouver will visit Kelowna again on February 16th, the series will then shift back to Langley on March 1st. The two teams will wrap up the regular season against each other with another home and home series - first on March 15th in Langley and then back at Prospera Place on March 16th.

Kelowna heads into the midweek contest with a record of 11-14-1-0 and 23 points - they're tied with Prince George for third in the Division. The Rockets are three points ahead of the fifth-place Kamloops Blazers and trail the second place Victoria Royals by only a single point. Vancouver sits atop the B.C. Division with a 16-6-2-0 record and 34 points.
