Rockets Force Game 6 with OT Win

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night in Kent, WA to extend the team's Western Hockey League playoff series to a seventh and deciding game to be played Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

Myles Bell scored the game winner at 10:39 of overtime to give the Rockets its third straight win and even their WHL quarterfinal series at three games apiece with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Bell's wrist shot from the left win eluded Seattle netminder Brandon Glover, who had turned aside 54 shots to that point.

"When we went down 3-0 we knew we could come back," said defenceman Damon Severson on the AM1150 post game show. "We're excited to come back to Kelowna this will be the most exciting game of our lives and we're going to try to give the fans what they deserve a win."

The Rockets and Thunderbirds played an entertaining game six in Seattle, going back and forth for much of the night as Seattle's Glover and Kelowna netminder Jordon Cooke were excellent in net.

The game was tied 3-3 after a wild first period. After Kelowna's Cody Fowlie opened the scoring, the T-Birds would score three straight times to take a 3-1 lead midway through the first.

"We have a bunch of guys that really care about each other," said Rockets assistant coach Dan Lambert. "For us to come back when we were down 3-1 really showed what this group is all about."

But Tyrell Goulbourne and then Fowlie with his second of the game, tied the score at 3-3 before the end of the first period. From there it was the goaltenders who took over as neither Cooke nor Glover would surrender another goal until overtime.

The Rockets are attempting to become just the second WHL team to come back from down 3-0 in a playoff series. The first team to do it was the 1996 Spokane Chiefs.
