Madison, Wis.- The Rockers lost their second straight game to the Madison Mallards, dropping Friday night's contest 12-2.
Starting on the hill for the Rockers was Christian Foutch (Arkansas). The right-hander gave up four earned runs across 4.1 innings, striking out seven of the batters he faced.
The Mallards struck first in this game on a pair of leadoff doubles. They would then add on four more runs through the first five innings, with two of them coming off the bat of Mallard center fielder Isaiah Jackson (Arizona State). Green Bay trailed by five runs entering the top of the sixth.
With one out in the sixth, the Rockers got their first hit of the game. Center fielder Kendal Ewell (Kentucky) raked a home run to right-center field to make it a 5-1 ball game. The Rockers would then get two more base runners, but none would come in to score.
The second hit of the game for the Rockers was off the bat of first baseman Jack Holman (UCLA), lining a single to right field.
Headed into the top of the eighth inning, the Mallards had taken a 9-1 lead. Left fielder Kyle West (West Virginia) launched a home run to right field for his fifth of the season. He now leads the Great Lakes division in home runs.
Green Bay was held hitless through the first five innings of tonight's contest. They faced Mallards' reliever Luke Reed (Eastern Kentucky) who struck out seven batters and allowed zero hits across his five innings on the hill.
With the loss, the Rockers are now 15-11 and remain in a tie for first place with the Wausau Woodchucks, who lost to the Lakeshore Chinooks Friday night. The Mallards are now just one game out of first place and trail Wisconsin Rapids by half a game.
