
Rockers Drop 4-0 Decision At West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The High Point Rockers maintained a two-game lead on first place in the Atlantic League's South Division despite a 4-0 loss at West Virginia on Saturday night.
Three Power pitchers limited High Point to five hits while striking out 10. West Virginia starer Elih Villanueva (3-2) went six innings and limited the Rockers to four hits while walking none and striking out seven. Eleardo Cabrera allowed one hit over his two innings while Junior Rincon struck out two in setting the Rockers down in order in the ninth.
High Point starter Cooper Casad (6-3) scattered seven hits over seven innings while striking out six.
Stephen Cardullo had two of High Point's five hits including a double. Michael Martinez, Quincy Latimore and Jerry Downs each added a single.
The Power grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third when Alberto Callaspo and Jimmy Paredes each collected an RBI single.
Callaspo hit a solo homer to right in the bottom of the fifth to give the Power a 3-0 lead. West Virginia added a run in the bottom of the eighth for a 4-0 lead when Edwin Espinal singled, moved to second on a balk and scored on a double by Olmo Rosario.
High Point is now 18-10 in the second half and holds a two game lead over West Virginia at 16-12.
