
Rockers Bounce Back against Madison on Monday

Madison, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers beat the Madison Mallards Monday night, 5-2, and won their first game since Opening Day.
The game remained scoreless through the first four innings of the play, and Green Bay took a 3-0 lead in the fifth. Tristin Garcia hit an RBI double, Scott Combs scored on a wild pitch and Garcia scored on a Kyle Schroedle single.
Green Bay added to its lead in the sixth when Matt Scannell scored on a throwing error by Madison shortstop Ryan Taylor.
In the eighth, Green Bay took a 5-0 lead on an RBI hit by Glenn Miller, which scored Griffin Stevens.
Madison made things interesting in the ninth. Jacob Conover came in for the Rockers to shut the door. He retired the first two hitters with relative ease, then Christian Rivera reached on a throwing error by Chase Hudson. The next three hitters subsequently walked, one of which brought in a run. A second run came in on a passed ball.
Calvin Hunt came in to try and get the final out with the tying run at the plate. He struck out Ryan Taylor swinging to secure the win, and Hunt earned the save.
Dylan Carter threw a terrific game. He threw eight shutout innings and allowed three hits, walked three and struck out five.
The Northwoods League has a league-wide off day Tuesday. Green Bay is back at it Wednesday, June 7, and they will take on Fond du Lac on the road. First pitch from Herr-Baker Field is set for 6:35 p.m. Gus Baylow will have the play-by-play call on The Fan Green Bay: 95.5 FM and 1400 AM.
