Calgary, AB - The league-leading Toronto Rock edged the Calgary Roughnecks 12-10 on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The win secured a playoff berth for the visiting Rock, who improve to 11-3 on the season, while the Roughnecks fall to 3-9.
In the final four minutes, Toronto scored three consecutive goals, including an empty net marker, to overcome a 10-9 deficit and seal the road win.
The Roughnecks, who opened the game with a three-goal run, were led offensively with six-point efforts from Dane Dobbie (4g, 2a) and Shawn Evans (1g, 5a). Curtis Dickson recorded a goal and set up four others while tallies from Jeff Shattler (2), Karsen Leung and Sean Pollock rounded out Calgary's scoring.
Brett Hickey, in a first-star performance, led the Rock with three goals and five assists for a game-leading eight points.
Nick Rose made 41 saves to record his fifth win of the season while Frankie Scigliano had 42 stops for Calgary.
The Roughnecks will now open a home-and-home weekend against the Colorado Mammoth (6-5), travelling to Denver on Friday (Apr. 3) before hosting the West Division rival the following night, Saturday, Apr. 4, at 7:00 p.m.
