
Black Wolves Stung by Swarm

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Pat Saunders had a game-high four goals but it was not enough as the New England Black Wolves fell to the Minnesota Swarm 13-9 on Sunday afternoon at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The four goals tied Saunders' career-high. He also had an assist in the game, bringing his season point total to 40. He leads the Black Wolves (3-7) with 21 goals on the season.
Kevin Crowley had a goal and a game and season high six assists, giving him a team-best 51 points. Brett Bucktooth chipped in two goals and four assists.
The Swarm (4-9) were led by Jordan MacIntosh, who had three goals and two assists while Shayne Jackson had two goals and four assists. Miles Thompson added three goals of his own.
Saunders picked up a hat trick in the first half, scoring New England's first three goals of the game. The Black Wolves trailed 6-4 at the half.
The Swarm scored seven second half goals, including five in the third quarter, while the Black Wolves could only manage five. After the Black Wolves pulled within 8-6 with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter on Saunders' fourth goal, Minnesota responded with three straight goals, including two within 10 second late in the third quarter. New England never recovered, falling 13-9. Minnesota snapped a six game losing streak.
Evan Kirk made 30 saves on 43 shots faced for New England. He is now 3-6 on the season.
Zach Higgins was outstanding in goal for Minnesota, making a career high 50 saves on 59 shots faced. Higgins is now 4-5 on the year for the Swarm.
The Black Wolves are back in action as they travel to Minnesota for another game against the Swarm on Friday, April 3rd. New England will be back at the Mohegan Sun Arena on April 12th with a game against the Vancouver Stealth at 1:00 pm.
