New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League had a roster transaction today, receiving 24-year-old LHP Blake Martin from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. It is expected that the southpaw, who is making his first trip to the Double-A classification, will work out of the New Britain bullpen for the remainder of the 2010 Season.

The 6'2"/182-pound Martin was selected out of Louisiana State University by the Rock Cats' parent club - the Minnesota Twins - in the 17th Round of the 2008 Draft. Now in his third season of pro baseball, the Gadsden, AL native arrives in New Britain after having spent all of 2010 with the Miracle in the Single-A, Florida State League. In 28 total appearances for Ft. Myers - of which 3 were starting assignments - the lefty compiled a 4-3-0 record. He tossed a total of 56.1 innings for the Miracle and posted a 4.79 ERA.

Blake Martin will be in a New Britain uniform tonight when the Rock Cats host the Richmond Flying Squirrels at New Britain Stadium at 7:05 PM.
