SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the finale of their 2-game series and homestand against the Empire State Yankees. The Red Wings lost last night's opener 6-4 despite 3 home runs, including 2 from Danny Valencia. The Red Wings will hop on the bus after tonight's game for a 2-game series at Pawtucket (Red Sox) tomorrow-Tuesday. Rochester then returns home on Wednesday for a 6-game homestand that leads into the All-Star Break, featuring a pair of 3-game series vs. Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley (Phillies).

a The Red Wings and IronPigs will play a doubleheader on July 8, the last day of action before the All-Star Break. Gametime is 12:05 p.m.

ROSTER NEWS: Minnesota Twins' righthander P.J. Walters tonight is making his first rehab start since being placed on the 15-Day Disabled List June 14 with right shoulder inflammation. Also, righthander Cole De Vries was optioned to Rochester following his spot start last night in the 2nd game of the Twins' doubleheader vs. Kansas City. De Vries earned his 2nd major league victory, allowing one run on 5 hits in 6.0 innings in the 5-1 triumph.

a Walters, who began the season with Triple-A Rochester, is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 7 starts with the Twins since having his contract purchased May 10. He last pitched June 13 vs. Philadelphia, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits without recording an out before being removed from the game with the injury. Walters went 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 6 starts with the Red Wings before making the jump to Minnesota.

a De Vries was originally scheduled to pitch for the Red Wings last night against Empire State, but got the call to the Twins.

SCUFFLING: The Red Wings have lost 3 in a row, 4 of their last 5, and 5 of their last 7. They are 8-12 since a season-best 4-game winning streak June 6-9. Rochester hasn't won more than 2 games in a row since that 4-game streak, which tied a season high from May 3-5. Rochester is 23-22 beginning May 15.

a A loss tonight vs. Empire State would give the Red Wings their 5th losing streak of at least 4 games. It would be their longest since losing 4 in a row May 25-28. Rochester's longest losing streak is an 8-game skid April 25-May 2.

WE'LL TAKE IT: The Red Wings finished June 15-14 for their first winning record in a calendar month since going 17-15 in August 2009. The Wings started the month 7-2, but went 8-12 the rest of the way.

a At 15-14, the Red Wings posted their best record of any calendar month this season, yet logged their highest ERA of any month at 4.48 (126 ER/253.1 IP). Rochester has scored 109 runs in 29 games in June, however, for their highest monthly average of 3.8 runs per game. The Wings averaged 3.1 runs per game in April (71 runs in 23 games) and 3.4 runs in May (103 runs in 30 games).

SOMETHING POSITIVE: With Monday's victory vs. Charlotte (White Sox), the Red Wings guaranteed themselves of their most wins entering the All-Star Break since 2009, when they were 44-44 going into the Mid-Summer Classic. Rochester was 33-59 at the break in 2010 and 35-55 in 2011.

LONG DIVISION: Rochester yesterday fell to 15-27 against Internatio nal League North Division teams, including just one win in its last 11 such contests. The Red Wings have won just 3 series against IL North clubs and all are 2-game sweeps at Syracuse (Nationals) April 5-6, vs. Lehigh Valley April 20-22, and vs. Buffalo (Mets) May 5. T he Wings are 22-18 against teams outside the division.

a The Red Wings are in the midst of playing their final 14 games leading into the All-Star Break against North Division rivals. They are 1-4 thus far during the stretch.

COME BACK, LIAM: The Red Wings entered play June 10 at Indianapolis ranked 3rd in the IL with a 3.45 ERA. In 20 games beginning June 10, the day after Liam Hendriks made his final start before getting recalled to Minnesota, the Red Wings have posted a 5.83 ERA (113 ER/174.1 IP). They now rank tied for 9th in the league with a 4.04 ERA with Gwinnett. Rochester is 8-12 in this stretch.

a Red Wings' starters are just 4-9 with a 6.29 ERA (61 ER/87.1 IP) in 20 games beginning June 10. Rochester starters are 21-26 with a 4.15 ERA (187 ER/406.0 IP) overall.

BACK IN THE SADDLE: The Red Wings had gone 6 straight games without a home run until hitting a season-high 3 last night vs. Empire State for the 3rd time. They also hit 3 June 17 at Louisville (Reds) and May 29 at Charlotte. Danny Valencia yesterday hit 2 homers for the 4th multi-homer game of his career, his 2nd of 2012. He also hit 2 June 23 vs. Charlotte.

a The Wings have hit 48 home runs overall, the 4th-lowest total in the IL ahead of Indianapolis' (Pirates) 44, Lehigh Valley's 45, and Gwinnett's (Braves) 46.

PEDRO VOTED FOR: Shortstop Pedro Florimon on Wednesday was selected to the International League All-Star team. He is the lone Red Wings' representative and he will back up starting shortstop Pedro Ciriaco of Pawtucket. The Twins claimed Florimon off waivers from the Orioles December 5, 2011.
