NORFOLK SONG: The Rochester Red Wings tonight close out their 8-game homestand with the finale of a 4-game series vs. Norfolk (Orioles). Rochester started the homestand by taking 3 of 4 from Columbus (Indians) and winning 2 of the first 3 against the Tides. The Wings tomorrow embark on their longest roadtrip of the season, a 9-day, 8-game adventure to Indianapolis (Pirates) and Louisville (Reds). Rochester has 4 other 8-game trips, but all are 8 days long.

ROSTER MOVES: The Minnesota Twins yesterday recalled first baseman Chris Parmelee. To make room for him on the roster, they optioned right-handed pitcher Cole DeVries to the Red Wings. Also yesterday, righthander Anthony Slama was placed on the 7-Day Disabled List with a right leg contusion and righthander Steve Hirschfeld was transferred to Double-A New Britain. To replace them on the 25-man roster, the Red Wings reinstated from the 7-Day DL outfielder Brian Dinkelman and righthander Samuel Deduno.

a DeVries is scheduled to start Sunday at Indianapolis. Slama has no record, a team-leading nine saves, and an 0.40 ERA in 20 appearances with the Red Wings. Dinkelman missed 49 games with a sprained right hand. Deduno, who missed 38 games with right shoulder tendinitis, is scheduled to start Tuesday at Indianapolis.

BETTER BASEBALL: The Red Wings have won 2 in a row, 4 of their last 5, 5 of their last 7, and 7 of their last 10. The Wings are 13-10 in their last 23 games beginning May 15 and are 18-17 beginning May 3.

2. Empire State 16-9 .640

3. Pawtucket 14-8 .636
