Rochester Honkers News Release
(Rochester, Minn)-- The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of outfielder Casey Fletcher from the University of Illinois. He joins the Ropers brothers, Reid and Ryne, as the third Fighting Illini to play for the Honkers this summer.
Fletcher is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior outfielder who can also play the infield and will see time on the mound this summer. Currently Fletcher is hitting .294 with five hits and four RBIs. He's started the last five games for the 6-4 Illini, three in right field and two in left.
Fletcher joined Illinois after playing two seasons at Kankakee Community College where he was a two-time NJCAA All-American. As a sophomore in 2013, he drove in 69 RBIs, ranking him second overall in NJCAA Division II baseball. He finished that season hitting .381 with 65 hits, 23 doubles and a .529 slugging percentage. He also served as the team's closer, earning eight saves with a 0.71 ERA. Fletcher collected 127 career RBIs at Kankakee, ranking his second-most in school history.
Fletcher played the last two summers for the Danville Dans in the Prospect League, twice earning All-Star honors.
The Rochester Honkers 21st season begins on May 27th when the Waterloo Bucks prance into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch. The Honkers will play 72 games in 2014 (36 home, 36 away).
