Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release

The Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club is pleased to announce that Dave Ridgway and Ron Estay have been inducted into the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame. Entering the hall in the builder category will be long time Saskatchewan football supporter Ed Hennick. Chris Walby and George McGowan round out the class of 2003, which was announced today at a ceremony in Calgary.

Dave Ridgway spent 14 seasons with the Green and White and still holds most of the kicking records in team history. Ridgway still holds the CFL record for most field goals regular season (59 field goals in 1990), most field goals in a regular season game (8 field goals) and most consecutive field goals regular season (28). Robokicker will probably be best remembered for his clutch field goal in the 1989 Grey Cup that gave the Roughriders their second national title.

Ron Estay patrolled the defensive line for the Edmonton Eskimos for 10 seasons. A fierce and competitive player, Estay tied the CFL record in 1974 with the most sacks in a game with five. Estay was a two time CFL All-Star in 1977 and 1980 and Western All-Star four times in 1973, 1977, 1978 and 1980. He played in nine Grey Cup championships and was on the winning end six times. Ron Estay is entering his third season as Defensive Line coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
