Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (4/11/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Thursday that goaltender Josh Robinson has been recalled from the Idaho Steelheads to Texas of the American Hockey League.
In a related transaction, the Steelheads have added rookie goaltender Joe Howe to the roster on an amateur tryout (ATO) contract. He is added under the "emergency conditions" clause of playoff rosters, which allows a team to add a goaltender if it only has one active goaltender available.
Ralph has Tyler Beskorowany and Howe on his roster as goaltenders for Game 6 of the best-of-seven, first round playoff series against the Colorado Eagles Friday night at CenturyLink Arena in Boise. Idaho leads the series, three games to two.
Robinson was selected as the Steelheads' team MVP this past season after winning 27 games between the pipes in his rookie season out of Michigan Tech. The 23-year-old also finished in the top five for the ECHL's Goaltender of the Year. He has been recalled two previous times without seeing any game action at the AHL level.
Howe, 23, just concluded his final season at Colorado College, the same school that produced former Steelheads Richard Bachman, Matt Zaba, Weston Tardy and Cody Lampl. As a senior, he went 14-12-4 with a .915 save percentage. His 3,199 career saves ranks third all-time at Colorado College, ahead of both Bachman and Zaba.
Season Tickets for the 2013-14 season are already on sale! After finishing the regular season with 45 wins and nearly 100 points in the standings, you won't want to miss any of the action next season when the Steelheads take the ice. Full-season packages begin at as little as $275 per seat. Partial-season packages are available as well. Contact the team's front office at 208-383-0080 and ask to speak to an account executive today.
