Robinson Backstops IceHogs To 5-2 Victory Against River Otters

January 26, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

The Rockford IceHogs got stellar goaltending from Michel Robinson and defeated the Missouri River Otters 5-2 Wednesday night at the Family Arena.

The lone goal in the opening period came off the stick of IceHogs defenseman Nathan Lutz. The all-star blue-liner flung a shot from the left point, and it beat a screened Jason Tapp to the top part of the net.

The River Otters tied the game less than two minutes into the final period. Glenn Detulleo played a puck to Mat Snesrud at the point, and Snesrud ripped a slap-shot that beat Robinson. Rockford regained the lead ten minutes later when Jason Ralph squeaked a puck through Tapp's pads right off a face-off. But the River Otters wouldn't be denied, and they tied the game with five minutes remaining in the period. Justin Quenneville deflected a Riku Varjamo shot into the net and the game went tied into the final period.

Rockford capitalized on a power play in the third period to take the lead for good. Rod Aldoff ripped a shot from the slot that beat Tapp and proved the eventual game-winner. Ralph and Eric Labelle added empty netters for the IceHogs. Robinson made 36 saves in the victory, while Tapp made 21 saves in defeat.

The Otters play the Mallards Friday night at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the B2 Webcast, which can be found at www.riverotters.com!
