Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - Veteran defender Rob Williams is returning to the Roughnecks for the 2006 season.
He has signed a one year contract. Details have not been disclosed.
Williams, 6'2" and 205 lbs., came to the Riggers prior to the 2005 campaign via the Vancouver Ravens dispersal draft.
He made his NLL debut with Baltimore in 1996 and in 74 regular season and playoff games, has accumulated 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) and 68 penalty minutes.
Williams, 32, can also take face-offs and has won 149 of the 331 he has attempted.
"Rob is one of those players that every club needs," said Roughnecks president and general manager, Brad Banister. "Though never flashy, he can always be relied upon to do the right thing under pressure. Having his experience in the squad has undoubtedly helped the development of our many talented young defenders."
Williams, who resides in Burnaby, British Columbia, has twice won the Minto Cup (1993 and 1995), Canada's top trophy for amateur lacrosse players.
