
Roanoke signs Chase, Taylor

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 31 - The Roanoke Dazzle of the NBA Development League has signed guards Brian Chase and James Taylor to fill the roster spots vacated when guards Anthony Grundy and Will Bynum were called up to the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors, respectively.
Chase 5-9, 170, just completed the season with the Gary Steelheads of the Continental Basketball Association, playing in 48 games and averaging 29.9 minutes, 15.1 points and 4.1 assists. He was third in the CBA in three-point field goal percentage at .450 (132-291). His 132 made three-pointers were second in the league. In a 75-game career at Virginia Tech he averaged 12.3 points, 1.7 assists and 2.9 rebounds. He is the Hokies' career leader in three-point field goal percentage at .419 (194-463).
Taylor, 6-2, 195 from Lynn (Fla.) University competed in 2005 training camp with the Dazzle after earning a spot through the Roanoke local tryout process. After being waived on November 10, 2005 he played for the West Sydney Razorbacks in Australia, averaging 13.9 points, 3.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 14 games.
Both are expected to be in uniform Saturday when the Dazzle is host to the Tulsa 66ers. Chase will wear jersey #7 and Taylor #11.
