
Roadrunners win with walkoff in 10th

EDINBURG, TEXAS ---- The Edinburg Roadrunners ended their four-game series with the Coastal Bend Thunder with a 3-2 walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th inning in front of 2,421 fans Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Edinburg (16-16) took three of the four games in the series and have maintained fourth place in the United League Baseball and are now only two games behind Coastal Bend (17-15) for the second place slot.
The Thunder got on the board against Montoya in the top of the first inning with an RBI fielder's choice by Carlos Rodriguez that scored Amaedo Zazueta followed by Bryan Vickers singling to center that allowed Leivi Ventura to cross home plate putting Coastal Bend up 2-0
Edinburg cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second inning when Eric Gonzalez hit an RBI single to center field that scored Osiel Flores that made the score 2-1.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Angel Reyes hit an RBI single to left that allowed Flores to touch home plate and tie things up at two causing extra innings.
Flores hit a walk-off single to left center in the bottom of the10th inning that scored Vincent Blue giving the Roadrunners their third win of the series with Coastal Bend with a final score of 3-2.
Danny Rondon (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after he allowed one hit in three innings of worked.
The Edinburg Roadrunners will travel to Amarillo for a four-game series with the Dillas starting on Tuesday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. Tim Haines (3-2) is expected to start for the Roadrunners with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
