Lone Star Brahmas News Release
The Lone Star Brahmas kicked off an eight game home stand with a tilt against the Topeka Road Runners on Friday night. The teams came into the series having split their previous three series.
Following a scoreless first period the Road Runners got on the board early in the second period on a goal from Yu Hikoska at 1:53. The Brahmas had multiple opportunities at open nets but could not get the puck to settle or put it just wide. The score stayed at 1 - 0 through the rest of the period as the teams went into the second intermission.
With 6:41 to go in the third a turn over behind the Brahmas' cage led to a shot from the near half-wall by Sam Rennaker that went off of Salinas' glove and bounced behind him. They added an empty netter at 18:17 off the stick of Zach Gleinke.
The Brahmas were outshot 35 - 14 on the night and both teams were scoreless on the power play. Topeka went 0 - 3 and the Brahmas were 0 - 2.
The same two teams will meet again Saturday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre. Tickets are still available for the 7:30 faceoff and can be purchased by visiting the NYTEX Sports Centre Box Office or by calling the Brahmas' Sales Office at 817-336-4423.
