Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Tomahawks rallied from a 3-1 deficit against the Wentachee Wild Friday night to claim their fourth victory in a row in front of 2,865 fans at the Cambria County War Memorial.
The Tomahawks opened scoring early in the first period with a goal by reigning NAHL North Division Player of the Week Jordan Watt, who scored a hat trick last Saturday night against Michigan. Watt took a short pass from Zach Wallace and went one-on-one against Wild goalie Chase Perry and blasted a hard shot through the five hole for his 15th of the season.
Wenatchee answered at 6:58 with a goal by defensemen Brandon Schrader, who took a short shot that sailed above Johnstown goalie Alex Okicki's left shoulder and into the net for his first goal of the year.
At 9:36, with Johnstown on the penalty kill following a Mitch Hall interference, Wenatchee's leading scorer Parker Tuomie slipped the puck past Okicki for his 17 th of the year, giving Wenatchee a 2-1 lead. Tuomie increased the lead again at 16:32 when he sent the puck under Okicki's right arm for a 3-1 lead.
Near the end of the second period, Johnstowns' Watt struck again. This time at 14:42, defenseman Dakoda Menslage took a shot that bounced off of Perry's right skate. Watt rebounded and sent the puck flying over Perry's right shoulder, closing the gap to 3-2 with his 16th goal of the season.
Watt clinched second hat trick in as many games at 6:26 of the third when he found himself in the Wenatchee zone with linemate Shane Bednard on a two-on-one. Bednard drew the Wenatchee goalie out of the net and slid a sharp pass to Watt, evening the score at 3-3 and raising Watt's tally to 17 goals on the year.
Johnstown moved ahead at 12:05 when forward Joe Drabin forced a turnover near the blue line and powered his way towards the night, fighting past a Wenatchee defender who sent Drabin to the ice. Drabin, though, followed through on the play while sliding on his stomach, poking the puck past Perry for his 10 th of the year.
