
Roadrunners Walk-Off Against Colts

EDINBURG, Texas---- Osiel Flores' walk-off homerun gave the Edinburg Roadrunners (8-9) a 5-4 victory over the San Angelo Colts (11-6) on Sunday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Eric Montoya received a no decision after striking out eight and allowed two runs on nine hits in seven innings.
The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning. After two outs, Nick Aranda reached on an infield single then moved to second on a throwing error by Andrew Coffey. Vincent Blue then hit an RBI single to center field that allowed Aranda to score for a 1-0 lead. Carlos Hereaud followed with an RBI single of his own which made the score 2-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, Nick Mahin hit a single to center field that allowed Bryan Frichter to score for a 2-1 Roadrunners lead.
The Colts tied it up at two in the top of the seventh inning after a throwing error by Hereaud that allowed Frichter to score from second base. In the top of the eighth inning, San Angelo took the lead on an RBI single by Jason Diaz which made the score 3-2.
The Roadrunners answered back in the bottom of the eighth inning. Robert Matlock reached on an infield single then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Aranda. Blue then hit an RBI tripled to deep left field that tied that game at three. Hereaud then hit a single to left field that allowed Blue to score for a 4-3 Roadrunners' advantage.
In the top of the ninth inning, Frichter reached on a throwing error by Roadrunners' closer Kelly Casares. After a strike out on Jason Landreth, Frichter stole third base with one out. Hunter Jobes hit a two out single that scored Frichter from third that tied that game at 4-4.
On the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning, Osiel Flores hit a walk-off homerun to lift the Roadrunners to a 5-4 victory.
Casares (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run, unearned, in one inning of relief.
Douglas Brandt (0-1) got the loss after allowing three runs in one inning.
