
Roadrunners Takes Series From Broncos

EDINBURG, TEXAS ---- The Edinburg Roadrunners ended their season series with the Laredo Broncos with a 3-1 victory taking three games of the series Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Tim Haines (9-4) picked up his ninth win of the season after he allowing one run, unearned and two hits in eight innings pitched.
Laredo (22-50) got the scoring started in the top of the second on an RBI single by Juan Senreiso that allowed Mario Mendez to score from second base giving the Broncos the early 1-0 lead.
Hector Garanzuay led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk and then moved to second after the throw went into the first base dugout. Carlos Hereaud hit a groundout to first base allowing Garanzuay to move to third. After a walk to Hunter Owen, Robert Matlock hit an RBI single to right field that drove in Garanzuay to tie things up at one. Vincent Blue then drew a walk to load the bases for Cameron McGuire who hit a two-run single to left field that allowed Owen and Matlock to score making it a 3-1 game in favor of the Roadrunners.
Kelly Casares pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save of the season giving the Roadrunners the 3-1 victory.
The Roadrunners (41-31) welcome the San Angelo Colts to the Edinburg Baseball Stadium for a four-game series starting Monday night. Miguel Martinez (7-4) is expected to pitch the first game of the series with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
