Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas offense continued its big output with 16 hits to go along with 15 runs in a 15-8 victory over the San Angelo Colts on Sunday night in front of 1,987 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Dillas starter Richard Jessup (6-5) got the win as he went seven innings and gave up seven earned runs. Colts starter Jacob Ramos (3-1) got the loss as he went one out past three innings and also gave up seven earned runs. Angel Reyes went 3-4 with a homerun, four RBI and three runs scored, while Stantrel Smith went 3-6 with a double, triple, three RBI and three runs scored.

First inning runs continued in this series as an error and a Brian Frichter RBI single put the Colts up early. Amarillo responded quickly as Keanon Simon walked, stole second and scored on a Smith RBI single. After a Carlos Figueroa single and a double play, Reyes hit a blast to left-center field, his second as a Dilla, for a 3-1 Amarillo lead.

The Dillas added on more in the second inning as Simon again walked, again stole second and again scored on an RBI by Smith, this time a ground-ruled double. Following a Figueroa hit-by-pitch, Terrance McClain doubled to score Smith. Reyes stepped in and single to right-center to score both runners for a 7-1 lead.

San Angelo came back with four runs in the third, including a bases-clearing 3-RBI triple by Jason Landreth to pull the score to 7-5. The Dillas scored again in the fourth as Smith scored on a McClain RBI single to extend the lead to 8-5.

Amarillo would not stop the scoring there as they added seven more runs off seven hits for a 15-6 lead.

The Colts scored in the seventh with a John Anderson 2-run homerun to pull the deficit to seven, but that is as close as San Angelo would get as the Dillas defeated the first-place Colts 15-8

With the win, the Dillas improve to 40-31, while the Colts fall to 45-27. Monday, Amarillo will host the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings for the opening game of a four-game series at 7:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:55pm on AudioSportsOnline.net. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
