
Roadrunners Return Favor, Snap Colts Streak

EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners snapped the San Angelo Colts five-game win streak with a 6-5 victory Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Aaron Guerra (2-0) picked up the win after pitching an inning and two-thirds and allowing just one hit in relief of Edinburg starter Wardell Starling, who got the no decision.
The Colts (16-16) got on the board in the top of the second with Jason Crosland's 10th home run of the season making it 1-0 San Angelo.
Back-to-back hits by Osiel Flores and Wilmer Pino put runners on the corners in the bottom of the third. Felix Molina followed with a two-run double to deep right center field that allowed Flores and Pino to score giving the Roadrunners a 2-1 lead.
Adam Hale hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth off of Starling making it 3-2 Colts.
The Roadrunners (23-8) answered back in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run by Osiel Flores, his fourth of the season, tying the game at three.
Ambiorix Concepcion led off the bottom of the sixth with a double and then moved over to third on a fly ball to center. Carlos Hereaud followed with a sacrifice fly that allowed Concepcion to score giving the Roadrunners a 4-3 lead.
With runners on the corners in the top of the seventh, a fielding error allowed Tyler Goodro to score from third tying the game at four. Ronnie Gaines followed with a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Butch Ballez to score making it 5-4 Colts.
In the bottom of the seventh, Flores reached after getting hit by a pitch from Colts starter Brian Henschel (2-3). Pino followed with an RBI double to left center field that drove in Flores from first tying the game at five. After Pino stole third base, Molina hit a sacrifice fly to right allowing Pino to score giving the Roadrunners a 6-5 lead.
Julio Castro pitched a scoreless ninth for his ninth save of the season giving Edinburg the 6-5 victory.
The Roadrunners and Colts will play the third game of their four-game series Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Mark DiBernardo (3-1) is expected to face Aaron Cunningham (2-3) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
