
Roadrunners Drop Second Home Game of the Season

EDINBURG, Texas---- The Edinburg Roadrunners (8-11) lost 8-4 to the San Angelo Colts (13-6) for their second straight loss at home on Tuesday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Miguel Martinez (0-2) only lasted one and two third innings and allowed five runs on seven hits while picking up the loss.
The Colts got on the score board early against Martinez. In the top of the first inning, Jason Diaz reached on a single to left field and then came in to score on an RBI double by Ronnie Gaines for a 1-0 lead. After a walk to Bryan Frichter, Jason Landreth hit a three-run homerun to left field to make the score 4-0.
The Colts scored one run in the top of the second on an RBI single by Frichter and then another run in the top of the third on an error by Amado German in left field that allowed Hunter Jobes to score from third that made it 6-0.
The Roadrunners cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Robert Matlock hit a single to right. He then moved to second on an infield single by Nick Aranda. Vincent Blue drove Matlock in from second with a single but the throw to the plate got away from the catcher and allowed Aranda to score from third for a 6-2 score. After a walk to Carlos Hereaud, Bryon Smith drove in the third run of the inning with a single that scored Blue that made it 6-3.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Angel Reyes scored on a wild pitch from Brandt Douglas which made the score 6-4, but that would be the end of the scoring for the Roadrunners.
The Colts scored two runs on three hits in the top of the ninth inning which extended their lead to 8-4.
Brett Lester (1-1) got the win after he worked four and a third innings of relief for the Colts. He allowed four runs on five hits during his outing and struck out four.
The Roadrunners and Colts will play the final game of this four-game series Wednesday night at 7:05 at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Aaron Guerra (0-0) will face former Houston Astros pitcher Ezequiel Astacio (2-0) as he looks for his first win of the season.
