
Roadrunners Complete Sweep of Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners completed the four-game sweep of the McAllen Thunder with a 10-3 victory Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the second. Stantrel Smith hit an RBI single that allowed Carlos Hereaud to score to make it 1-0.
With the bases loaded, Antoin Gray hit an RBI sacrifice fly that allowed Luis Blanco to score from third to tie things at one.
Tony Phillips delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the third that allowed Tim Battle and Vincent Blue to score. Smith then followed with an RBI single that drove in Hereaud extending the Roadrunners lead 4-1.
After Edinburg added a run in the bottom of the fifth on a Cristobal Santana RBI single, the Thunder (2-10) got two runs on a two-run double by Luis Blanco in the top of the sixth that cut the Roadrunners lead 5-3.
Edinburg (7-5) responded back with five runs in the bottom of the sixth as they batted around against the McAllen pitching staff that made the score 10-3.
James Hoyt, Paul Koss and Julio Castro combined for three and a third of shutout baseball. Castro pitched a perfect ninth to give Edinburg the 10-3 victory.
Dave Dinelli (1-1) got the win after pitching five and a third inning and allowing three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
The Roadrunners have Mondy off and will hit the road for 14 games starting Tuesday night in Harlingen against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.
