San Angelo Colts News Release

Fort Worth, Texas --- The Colts won game one of Sunday's doubleheader at LaGrave Field against the Fort Worth Cats, 4-2, but lost the second game, 6-3.

Fort Worth and San Angelo were tied after three innings in game one, but consecutive RBI singles by second baseman Adam De La Garza and centerfielder Ronnie Gaines in the fourth gave the Colts a lead they never relinquished.

Left fielder Jamar Walton and third baseman Davis Page scored on the base hits by De La Garza and Gaines.

The Colts tacked on another run in the fifth when shortstop Landon Camp scored on a wild pitch by Fort Worth starter Trevor Harden.

Harden (1-2) allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits through five innings and suffered the loss.

The Cats mounted a comeback in the seventh, but it fell short. They scored one run on two hits and an error.

Starter Logan Williamson (2-0) allowed two unearned runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings to earn his second win of the year. Closer Erik Draxton recorded the final out to earn his third save.

The Cats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in game two.

Left fielder Chad Gabriel hit a two-run homer in the first. Catcher Derek Marshall led off the second inning with a home run, and Gabriel hit a two-out RBI single.

The Cats notched two more runs in the middle innings to put the game out of reach. San Angelo scored a run apiece in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but it was not enough.

Chris Peacock (0-2) allowed four runs on five hits in three innings and took the loss for the Colts. Fort Worth starter Steve Barnes (2-0) surrendered two runs, one earned, on five hits in five innings to collect his second win.

Cats' closer Jeff Jamnik pitched a perfect seventh to earn his sixth save in as many chances.

The Colts have two days off before returning to Fort Worth Wednesday to begin a three-game series against the Cats at LaGrave Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard live on KKSA.

The Colts next home game is Saturday, June 9 at 7:05 p.m. against the Abilene Prairie Dogs. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Colts' t-shirt, courtesy of 1st Community Federal Credit Union.
