
Roadrunners Come from Behind Twice for Win

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners won their fourth straight game after rallying twice against the McAllen Thunder to defeat them 10-7 Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
After coming back from a three-run deficit the Roadrunners (53-33) had to overcome a four run deficit to take the lead for good from the Thunder (30-56).
With the game tied at three, McAllen sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the fifth inning. Yasser Gomez hit an RBI double that allowed Lyndon Poole to score. After an RBI single by Cristobal Santana, a throwing error allowed two runs to come in giving McAllen the 7-3 lead.
Carlos Hereaud started the bottom of the fifth inning with double and then came around to score on an RBI single by Derek Perren. One out later, Felix Molina drove in Perren with an RBI double that cut the Thunder's lead 7-5.
Edinburg grabbed the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With runners on the corners, Wilmer Pino hit an RBI single that scored Stantrel Smith from third. After Hereaud lined out to second, Perren delivered an RBI single that allowed Vincent Blue to score tying the game. With the bases loaded, Molina hit an RBI sacrifice fly that gave the Roadrunners the 8-7 lead.
The Roadrunners added single runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings for the 10-7 lead as Paul Koss pitched a scoreless ninth for his eighth save of the season giving Edinburg the victory.
Miguel Martinez (11-4) got the win after allowing seven runs on 10 hits in seven innings. Martinez is now tied for the league lead in wins with 11.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will play the third game of their four-game series Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Matison Smith (7-5) is expected Alexei Perez (4-5) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
