Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
LAST WEEK'S RECAP
Overall Picture: The Greenville Road Warriors (28-21-3), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, had high hopes entering last weekend's doubleheader at South Carolina, but lost ground in the playoff race with a pair of setbacks in North Charleston.
Things started extremely well on Saturday when Josh Nicholls scored twice in the opening six minutes of the contest, but the Stingrays bounced back with five unanswered goals in a 5-2 loss at the North Charleston Coliseum. South Carolina's Rob Ricci scored twice and Andrew Rowe notched three assists, while Road Warriors' goaltender Jason Missiaen stopped 18 shots in the setback. In addition, the game included three fights and a total of 52 penalty minutes. Bretton Cameron, Sam Noreau and Michael St. Croix each dropped the gloves for Greenville.
On Sunday, the Road Warriors received goals from Scott Arnold and St. Croix, but fell to the Stingrays 3-2 when defenseman Lee Moffie netted the game-winner with just 7:31 left in regulation. The setback pushed Greenville four points behind South Carolina for third place in the East Division standings and dropped the club to 4-8-1 against the Stingrays this season. Braely Torris made 21 saves and suffered his first loss since joining the Road Warriors.
