Gladiators Acquire McEachen from Florida

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators announced on Tuesday that they have acquired defenseman Patrick McEachen (pronounced mick-KEY-an) from the Florida Everblades, retroactive to Saturday.

The 24-year-old McEachen has played in 21 games for the Everblades this year, his first professional season. He has notched three assists to go along with his 20 penalty minutes and a -5 plus/minus rating.

A native of Stouffville, Ontario, the defenseman played for four seasons with Queens University in Kingston, Ontario from 2010 to 2014. In all, he totaled 39 points on 11 goals and 28 assists over 91 games with the Golden Gaels.

Before the 2014-15 season began, McEachen spent time in the Carolina Hurricanes prospect camp and played for the Hurricanes in the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in September.

McEachen joins the Gladiators ahead of their next game, a 7:30 p.m. tilt against his former team, the Florida Everblades, in Estero, Fla. on Wednesday, February 25th. The Gladiators' next home game will be on Saturday, March 7th for $5 Mesh Replica Jersey Frenzy Night against the South Carolina Stingrays.
