Road Warriors Add Rookie Defensemen

GREENVILLE,SC- The Greenville Road Warriors announced today the team has signed rookie defensemen Edwin Shea and Brock Shelgren for the 2012-2013 season. Both players come to the Road Warriors having spent the last four years playing Division I College Hockey.

Shea spent his college career at Boston College. In his four seasons with the BC Eagles, Shea tallied 21 points (1G, 20A). The Massachusetts native was a key member of two national championship teams for Boston College. His last ever collegiate game was the 2012 NCAA DI National Championship, and it ended with Shea celebrating Boston College's fifth ever national title. "Shea's played a ton of big games in college," said Road Warriors' coach Dean Stork. "That experience on such a large stage is invaluable us. He's a solid defensemen and does all the little things right."

"Coach Stork has a great reputation for developing players," said Edwin Shea on signing with Greenville. "The Road Warriors have been a top notch team the past couple seasons and I wanted to join in that success."

Shelgren played the last four seasons at Michigan State University. A Chicago native, Shelgren tallied 29 points (8G, 21A) in 138 career college games. In his final season, he helped MSU to the NCAA Tournament before losing to Union in the first round. Following his senior season, Shelgren signed on with the Alaska Aces, appearing in two regular season, and one post-season game with the team. "Shelgren is a good two-way defensemen," said Coach Stork. "He's got a high compete level, a good attitude and comes from a good program at Michigan State."

"I've heard nothing but good things about the city of Greenville and the Road Warriors Organization," said Brock Shelgren. "It's a good opportunity for me to come to a great team and compete for a championship."
