Chico Outlaws News Release
The Chico Outlaws are taking on the surging Yuma Scorpions tonight, after securing their first victory of the 6-game road trip.
On Tuesday the Outlaws made a valient effort to re-create last Sunday's come-from-behind heroics but fell short, closing a 9-0 defecit in the 11-8 loss. As a side note for local baseball fans, Corning's very own Evan White earned the W for the Scorpions.
Thursday saw the Outlaws' tough luck continue, fallling 12-5. Yuma's Nick Crouch launched a home run as the Outlaws new pitchers Daniel Howard and Paul Wilson struggled. Outlaws outfielder Daniel Nava continued his hot streak with 3 hits and 2 RBIs.
Yesterday the Outlaws broke through into the Win column with an 8-3 victory that saw Nava extend his 13-game hitting streak with a 2-Run Home Run, while David Pierson and Jason Van Meetren drove in two rus a piece. Derrick Loop pitched well to earn his league-leading 8th victory of the season.
The Outlaws go for the series split Friday in the finale of the four-game set--Chico will send rookie left-hander Matt Campbell (1-0) to the mound, with Yuma countering with righty Steve Soja (6-3). Game time is 7:05pm; hear all the action with "The Voice" of the Outlaws, Rory Miller, beginning at 6:35pm on the internet or on SportsFan 101.7 FM ESPN Radio.
