Road Dominance

December 23, 2002 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release

The Ice continued its road dominance last week with four wins in five nights as the team picked up victories in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Odessa (TX) and Fort Worth. The red-hot Ice is 5-1-0 on the road trip and concludes the eight-game road swing with games in Bossier-Shreveport (LA) and Wichita on Thursday and Friday. Indy, who is now an admirable 7-5-1 on the road this year, also gained eight points on first-place Memphis and is just one point behind the RiverKings with three games in hand.

DAZZLING DUMBA: Playing the lead role offensively on the winning road trip is left winger Jared Dumba (dumb-buh). Dumba, acquired from Oklahoma City back on 11/27, has paced the Ice with 11 points (6G, 5A) on the road swing, including seven points (5G, 2A) in the four wins last week. Included in his four-game outburst were two multiple goal games and two game-winning goals. He also went back to Oklahoma City for the first time since the trade and burned the Blazers with two of the Ice's four goals in the 4-2 victory.

TAYLOR TERRIFIC: After missing four games to injury, Andrew Taylor returned at the start of the road trip and has joined Jared Dumba in the "hot" category. Taylor, who registered his 200th pro point last week, enters the week with a four-game point streak and he is second on the team in scoring on the road trip with seven points (2G, 5A).

ONLY THE MUDBUGS: Entering this week's play, the Ice has had the winning hand when playing its conference foes. Indy is 14-5-5 against its Northern Conference counterparts and is undefeated in regulation against its Northeast Division foes with an 8-0-4 record. The only team that the Ice has struggled against in the conference is Bossier-Shreveport, as the Ice is 0-2-1 in its three meetings with the "Bugs."
