SCORPIONS ON THE RADIO – The Scorpions are teaming up this season with SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal to bring you all of the Scorpions action on the radio. Mike Sheehan is in his first season as the Voice of the Scorpions. Both games this week are scheduled to air on SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal.

SCORPIONS HOCKEY TALK – The Scorpions' weekly radio talk show is on hiatus until following the holidays. It will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. on SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal, live on location at the Corner Pocket, 9603 Lomas NE just west of Eubank. Scorpions Hockey Talk features new Scorpions coach Bill McDonald and the "Voice of the Scorpions" Mike Sheehan, along with special guests each week.

SCORPIONS TICKETS AND EVENTS – The Scorpions' home game this Saturday, Dec. 28 against San Angelo is Bright Ideas Tote Bag Night, with the first 1,000 fans receiving a FREE Scorpions tote bag from Bright Ideas. The Scorpions' home game on Saturday, Jan. 4, also against San Angelo, is Visor Night, with the first 1,000 fans receiving a FREE Scorpions visor.

SCORPIONS RECAP –

AMARILLO 4, SCORPIONS 2 – The Gorillas scored three times in the second period and skated out of Tingley Coliseum with a 4-2 win on Thursday. Peter Ambroziak scored a power play goal in the first period, before Amarillo scored three goals in just over six minutes. Tyler Baines scored on a beautiful end-to-end rush in the third period but despite several chances, the Scorpions could get no closer. Luciano Caravaggio made 21 saves for the Scorps while Arturs Kupaks assisted on both goals.

EL PASO 4, SCORPIONS 2 – Mario Dumoulin recorded his first two-goal game in a Scorpions uniform but the Buzzards scored two power play goals to take a 4-2 win over the Scorpions. After El Paso took a 1-0 lead late in the first, Dumoulin tied the score with a power play goal midway through the second, cutting to the net to convert on a great cross-ice pass from Tyler Baines. The Buzzards scored three unanswered goals before Dumoulin scored his second of the game with five minutes to play in the third after eluding an El Paso forward. Luciano Caravaggio stopped 28 shots. SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS –

ODESSA – All four games with the Jackalopes have been decided by 3-2 scores this season, with the Scorpions taking the first two and the Jackalopes taking the last two. Only the last game was decided in regulation, the other three needed overtime. The Jackalopes lead the Southwest Division after posting a 10-2-1 record in their last 13 games. Mike Rutter leads the Jacks with 29 points (9g-20a). Rookie winger Sebastien Thinel has 16 points in his last 10 games. Goalie Mike Gorman is fourth in the CHL with a 2.02 GAA to go with his 12-4-4 record.

SAN ANGELO – The Scorpions are 2-0 against the Saints this season, winning a pair of games in San Angelo, 3-2 on Oct. 25 and 7-4 on Nov. 17. The teams meet three more times this season, all at Tingley Coliseum beginning Saturday. After a stretch in which they lost 15 of 17 games, they have won three of their last five. Chris Peach leads the Saints with 40 points (15g-25a) but is a league-worst –28. Troy Mann is next with 39 points (15g-24a), as 11 of his 15 goals have come on the power play. Goalie Scott Reid is 7-11-1 with a 3.54 GAA while Jamie Ronayne is 4-9-0 with a 4.27 GAA. WELCOME MATTERSDORFER – The Scorpions signed second-year winger Fred Mattersdorfer prior to Friday's game in El Paso. Mattersdorfer, 24, won a United Hockey League championship last year in Muskegon, where he posted 12 goals and 26 points in 69 games for the Fury. He played three games earlier this season for the Winston-Salem Parrots of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The Scorpions also re-signed defenseman Dominic Plenzich, who had one assist in 16 games earlier this season. To make room on the roster, center Neil Breen and winger Tyler Boucher were waived.

DUMOULIN DUSTING THE OPPOSITION – Scorpions defenseman Mario Dumoulin posted his first two-goal game in a Scorpions uniform on Friday at El Paso. Dumoulin leads all Scorpions defensemen with eight goals this season, a total that places him tied for third among all CHL blueliners. He has 19 points (8g-11a), good for sixth on the team.

BAINES BRINGS IT – Second-year winger Tyler Baines recorded a point in each of the Scorpions games last week... He scored his seventh goal of the year against Amarillo on Thursday and assisted on Mario Dumoulin's first goal on Friday at El Paso... Baines is fifth on the Scorpions this season with 22 points (7g-15a) in 25 games... His consecutive games streak ended at 85 to begin his career on Dec. 7 against El Paso. He missed just one game.

STINGERS – Friday's game at Odessa begins a stretch of four games in five nights and seven games in ten days for the Scorpions... Chris Richards has a point in each of his last four games... The Scorpions had a streak of 20 consecutive successful penalty kills ended on Friday at El Paso...They are 10-1-0 when they hold their opponents to two goals or less... Likewise they are 12-1-0 when they score three goals or more... Arturs Kupaks is sixth among CHL defensemen with 24 points (5g-19a).
