Rivermen Sign Pair of Collegiate Players

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed forward Nick Larson and defenseman Drew Olson to amateur tryout contracts (ATO). Both players will be available as the Rivermen play in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

Larson, 23, recently completed his senior season at the University of Notre Dame where he skated in 40 games and recorded nine points (four goals, five assists). In four seasons with the Fighting Irish, the 6'2", 198-pound forward registered 47 points (25 goals, 22 assists) and 194 penalty minutes in 142 contests.

A native of Apple Valley, Minn., he was originally selected by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (#108 overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Olson, 23, has spent the last four seasons playing at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. This season with the Bulldogs, the 6'0", 200-pound defenseman appeared in 38 games while he collected seven points (one goal, six assists).

A native of Brainerd, Minn., he was originally selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth round (#118 overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
