Rivermen.net Q&A with Davis Payne

Peoria Rivermen News Release
We recently had the chance to sit down with new Rivermen head coach Davis Payne as he settles in to his office for the 2008-09 Season at Carver Arena. Wearing shorts and a Rivermen polo that belied the cooling air in the now-waking team locker room and coaches offices, Payne also wore something else - an expression of determination.
No stranger to being a head coach, Payne has been behind the bench since leaving a playing career that included 22 NHL games following the 1999-00 season. Originally a seventh round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 1989, Payne broke in to the NHL with the Boston Bruins in 1995 - his fourth professional season. He understands that it takes time to develop as a player having had to go through the process himself... and having seen the rewards of patience and hard work.
