My Favorite Martins Re-Ups With Wolves

The Chicago Wolves have re-signed 10-year National Hockey League veteran STEVE MARTINS, a member of Chicago's 2008 Calder Cup and 1998 Turner Cup Championship teams.

The 36-year-old center posted two goals, seven assists and nine points in 22 of 24 Calder Cup playoff games during the Wolves' run to last season's title. He also shared third on the squad with 40 assists and sixth with 57 points in 76 regular-season outings during his 13th professional campaign last year.

The Gatineau, Quebec, native, is entering his fifth stint with Chicago, having spent parts of four seasons with the team throughout the course of his career (1997-98, 2000-01, and 2006-08). MARTINS has tallied 21 markers, 43 assists and 64 points in 83 International Hockey League games with Chicago and notched 30 goals, 66 helpers and 96 points in 124 American Hockey League outings in a Wolves sweater.

MARTINS also collected 21 goals, 25 assists, 46 points and 142 penalty minutes in 267 career NHL games with the Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders and St. Louis Blues.

Overall, he has racked up 92 goals, 216 assists, 308 points and 408 penalty minutes in 392 career AHL tilts with the Binghamton Senators, Springfield Falcons, Grand Rapids Griffins, Worcester IceCats and Wolves.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
