4619625146050BIG D IS GOING STREAKING

Last night's 3-2 Rivermen loss to Columbus included a goal for winger Cody Dion, giving him a goal in each of his last three games. Dion entered play last night with a point in each of his last 5 home contests, and had a goal in each of Peoria's games against Evansville last weekend. For the season, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Colorado Springs, CO has notched six goals and assisted on two others in 14 games.

SHORTHANDED? NO PROBLEM

Last night's Rivermen game included Peoria's third shorthanded goal of the season, all of which have been scored by Rivermen winger Alec Hagaman. In six games this season, the Peoria native has scored three goals, all of them with Peoria skating a man down. For the season, Hagaman has more shorthanded tallies by himself than any other SPHL team has total. For his career, Hagaman has scored 30 goals in 108 SPHL games, and eight of his 30 goals have come shorthanded.

WALKING THROUGH THE PARKS

Last night's Rivermen OT loss saw Peoria goaltender Tyler Parks take the tough-luck loss after he entered the game in relief of starter Tyler Green. In his last two outings with Peoria, Parks has stopped 39 of 41 shots, allowing just two goals over 95 minutes and eight seconds of net time. Since joining the Rivermen, the 6-foot-7 Parks is 1-0-2 with a 2.32 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

OPEN THE SHOOTING GALLERY

In last night's overtime loss to Huntsville, Peoria put a season-high 45 shots on goal, out-shooting the Havoc 45-24. The Rivermen enter play tonight averaging 31.57 SOG per game, good for fifth in the 10-team SPHL, while Columbus comes in averaging 35.83 SOG allowed per game, second most in the league.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After tonight's game the Rivermen will remain in Columbus, Georgia for a rematch with the Cottonmouths tomorrow night. The Rivermen will then return home for a single game next Friday with Knoxville and a home-and-home pair with Evansville the following weekend, December 16 & 17.
