RiverKings Win Sixth Straight

(Odessa, TX) -- Six separate players scored goals as the Mississippi RiverKings defeated the Odessa Jackalopes 6-4 Tuesday night, February 24th, in Odessa. The victory gives the RiverKings a six-game winning streak entering a Friday encounter with the Blazers in Oklahoma City.

Jeff Nelson scored a penalty shot goal in the first period, followed by a goal from Matt Pierce for a 2-0 first intermission lead.

Dane Marshall answered Odessa's first goal of the night for a 3-1 lead at 7:40 of the second period. Odessa answered that goal with a power play goal for a 3-2 RiverKings lead, followed by Jeff Alcombrack's power play goal at 18:54 for 4-2 second intermission.

In the third period, Louis Dumont scored to make it 5-2, but Odessa scored twice to get within one marker at 5-4 RiverKings with 6:53 to play. Garrett Larson finished the scoring with a shorthanded, empty-net goal at 19:13 for the final score.

Mississippi out shot Odessa 39-38 for the night and was 1-for-2 on the power play. Odessa was 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

The RiverKings game against Oklahoma City starts at 7:10 PM Friday night at the Ford Center followed by their next home game against the Colorado Eagles at the DeSoto Civic Center on Saturday night, starting at 7:05 PM.
