Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs announced Tuesday that for the third-straight year, the Club will help celebrate Read Across America Week with students by visiting local elementary schools throughout Northern Arizona the week of March 2.

Read Across America Week was first established 12 years ago by The National Educational Foundation. The nationwide reading celebration takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss.

During the appearances, Sundogs players will read to children, answer questions and discuss the importance of reading.

In conjunction with Read Across America Week, the Sundogs have also announced that they will wear special Dr. Seuss themed jerseys on Friday, March 13 to help promote literacy and encourage students to read. A portion of the proceeds raised during the charity jersey auction will go towards supporting education and literacy in the quad-cities area.

Theodor Seuss Geisel, most widely known for his children's books written under his pen name, Dr. Seuss, was born on March 2, 1904. He published over 60 children's books including bestseller Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat.
