Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 24)- A win would make Texas the leader in League standings, and on an afternoon faceoff against Southeast divisional foe Corpus Christi, the Brahmas did just that winning 6-3.
The early start fit forward Grant Jacobsen well as he put Texas up 1-0 at the 9:09 mark with assists from Pete Rouleau and Kevin McLeod on the powerplay. The Rays gave their young fans something to cheer about on "Kids Day" four minutes later when Jeremy Leroux beat Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola on the powerplay. The teams exchanged goals once again in the middle frame tying the game 2-2. Greg McConnell scored for Texas, redirecting the puck overtop netminder Kris Tebbs.
Texas went into the game outscoring their opponents 71-58 in the third period, and they increased this stat, outscoring the Rays 4-1 in the final period. Cameron tallied a pair of goals and assisted on Jacobsen's goal with :35 seconds remaining in the game. McLeod scored his goal from Jason Deitsch and Scott Sheppard. Cacciola stopped 31 of 34 shots faced and Texas swept the three stars of the game honors with Cameron named first star, Jacobsen second and McConnell third.
The Brahmas will return home looking to increase their winning streak at home to 14 when they host the Amarillo Gorillas on Puck Night at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The first 1000 fans present for the 7:05 PM faceoff will receive a puck. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
