Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Welcome to March, the final month of the Central Hockey League regular season. The Mississippi RiverKings find themselves in the middle of a battle for a Northern Conference playoff spot, currently fourth in the conference standings with a record of 27-21-7 for 61 points, one point more than fifth-place Missouri and nine points behind third-place Bossier-Shreveport.
GAME RECAPS
Wednesday, February 17: RIVERKINGS 5, WICHITA 2:
The RiverKings opened a four-game road trip with five straight goals, after Wichita had taken a 1-0 lead in the first period. Ryan Held and Matt Summers each scored a pair of goals. Louis Dumont and Bobby Chaumont each assisted on a pair of goals. Goaltender Tim Boron stopped 16 shots in picking up the victory, as the RiverKings outshot the Thunder 42-18. Three of Mississippi's five goals were scored on the power play.
Friday, February 19 - RIVERKINGS 4, COLORADO 2:
Mississippi won its second game of the four-game road trip and sixth straight regular season win over Colorado in the first of two games at Loveland. Kevin Truelson led the offense with a goal and an assist, while Derek Landmesser earned a pair of helpers. Goaltender Tim Boron won his fourth decision of the season with a 30-save performance. Mississippi was outshot by the Eagles 32-23 and scored twice on the power play.
Saturday, February 20 - COLORADO 6, RIVERKINGS 3:
Colorado raced to a 4-0 first intermission lead, but the RiverKings responded with three straight goals, before two empty-net goals at the end sealed the RiverKings' fate for the night, stopping a six-game regular season winning streak over the Eagles by the RiverKings. Louis Dumont scored twice and added an assist for a three-point night, finishing the regular season series with six goals in three games against Colorado. Ryan Held added a pair of assists. Goaltender Tim Boron allowed four goals in the first twenty minutes of the game and was tagged with the loss. Mark Sibbald relieved Boron in the second period and kept the Eagles off the board in 14 opportunities. Mississippi outshot the Eagles 31-29 and scored once on the power play.
Tuesday, February 23 - MISSOURI 4, RIVERKINGS 3 (SHOOTOUT):
Missouri needed a late goal in the third period and a shootout to avoid losing against the RiverKings for the first time in Missouri this season. Glenn Detulleo, Elias Godoy, and Ryan Held each scored goals for the RiverKings. Mark Sibbald 26 saves in the shootout loss. The RiverKings outshot the Mavericks 32-30 and scored once on the power play.
Friday, February 26 - RIVERKINGS 7, WICHITA 1:
Mississippi won its fifth game in the final meeting of the season between the RiverKings and Thunder by scoring six times in the second period. The six goals in the second frame were the most scored in one period by the RiverKings this season and the seven goals were the most scored in one game by Mississippi this year. Darrell Stoddard scored two goals and added two assists for the RiverKings, while Ryan Held scored a goal and added three assists. Elias Godoy scored a goal and added an assist, as did Louis Dumont, and Glenn Detulleo chipped in with a pair of assists in the winning effort. RiverKings goalie Tim Boron stopped 35 shots, as Mississippi outshot the Thunder 40-36. The RiverKings were scoreless on the power play.
Saturday, February 27 - RIVERKINGS 5, ALLEN 3:
Mississippi won its second straight game and second against the Americans this season. Bobby Chaumont scored two goals and added a pair of assists, and Stephen Margeson also scored a pair of goals. Elias Godoy had three assists in the win and Derek Landmesser added a pair of helpers. Goaltender Tim Boron stopped 27 shots for the RiverKings. Mississippi outshot the Americans 30-27 and scored twice on the power play.
UPCOMING GAMES
Wednesday, March 3 - RIVERKINGS at TULSA (7:05 PM):
This will be the final visit of the regular season to the BOK Center for the RiverKings. The Oilers start the week in sixth place in the CHL Northern Conference with a record of 25-24-6 for 56 points, four points out of a playoff spot, but Tulsa is 6-2-0 against Mississippi this season.
Friday and Saturday, March 5-6 - RIVERKINGS at ALLEN (7:30 PM):
This will mark the final visits of the regular season between the RiverKings and the expansion Americans, who lead the series with a 3-2-0 record. Allen has clinched a playoff spot with its record of 36-14-4. The Americans are in second place in the CHL Southern Conference.
Sunday, March 7 - RIVERKINGS at MISSOURI (3:05 PM):
This will be the final game in the regular season series between the expansion Mavericks and the RiverKings. Missouri is in fifth place in the CHL Northern Conference standings with a record of 28-23-4 for 60 points, one fewer than the RiverKings. The regular season series is tied at 5-4-1 for each team, but the RiverKings are 0-3-1 in the Show Me State.
HELD'S STREAK ENDS:
Ryan Held was shut off the scoreboard in Saturday's victory over Allen, ending a six-game point streak of 12 points in those six games. Held leads the RiverKings in scoring in the team's last five games with eight points. Ryan is tied for eighth among CHL goal scorers with 26 for the year and is tied for ninth in power play goals with nine.
THREE'S A CROWD:
But, it's a nice crowd to have when it involves goal scoring for the RiverKings in the last quintet of contests. Ryan Held, Bobby Chaumont, Louis Dumont, and Darrell Stoddard have each scored a trio of red-lighters during the last five Mississippi contests, of which the RiverKings are 3-1-1.
BORON'S BACK AT IT:
With the departure of Mark Sibbald, Tim Boron has taken over between the pipes for the RiverKings. In his last four appearances, the RiverKings' goaltender is 3-1-0 with a 3.00 goals-against-average and a.910 save percentage.

Ken Davis has three points in his last three games and two goals in his last two games.
Tyler Doherty has three points in his last three games.
Matt Summers has two assists in his last two games.

SIBBALD LEAVES, SIMOES GRANTED LEAVE:
Goaltender Mark Sibbald left the team during the week last week and the RiverKings played their weekend games with emergency backup goaltenders behind Tim Boron. Defenseman David Simoes was granted a leave of absence by the league.
