Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes will hold a special ceremony before Saturday's game against Laredo to honor former head coach Don McKee and enter his name into the franchise's Hall of Fame.
McKee spent parts of eight seasons behind the bench in Odessa, winning "Coach of the Year" honors twice in 2001 and 2002. He won nearly 60% of the games he coached with a record of 241-158-52. McKee was also given the CHL's "Rick Kozuback Award" in 2005, and led the Jackalopes to the best league record in 2001-02 at 47-11-6 to earn the league's Governor's Cup.
"Don McKee did a great deal for this organization during his tenure here, and it's only fitting that he's honored," said Jackalopes co-owner Rick Gasser. "Don still has a special place in the hearts of many fans here."
