January 5, 2005 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN---The Memphis RiverKings waived winger Alexandre Mathieu today to make room for the signing of Scott Young. According to Central Hockey League Rules, teams can only have four veterans on their roster. A veteran is defined as a player with 260 or more professional games played.

Young, a veteran of 1,102 N.H.L. games, will take Mathieu's spot as the fourth veteran on the RiverKings' roster. Mathieu, a sixth year pro, has 314 professional games under his belt. The other veterans on the Memphis roster are Don Parsons, Derek Landmesser and Ted Crowley. The native of Repentigny, Quebec, Canada was in his second season with the RiverKings. After posting 24 goals and 32 assists last season, Mathieu was slowed by injury this season and had five goals and seven assists in 20 games.

RiverKings Head Coach Mark Richards is also expecting winger Ken Goetz to come off the I.R. list tomorrow and be ready to play in the game tomorrow night.

The RiverKings host three-games this weekend before heading into the all-star break next week. They will host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:05 tomorrow night followed by games with the New Mexico Scorpions Friday and Saturday night. Those games will also start at 7:05 at the DeSoto Civic Center.

A RiverKings game can be even more fun when you take it in with your group or organization. Get your group together and have a great time at the DeSoto Civic Center.
